Our Vision
If you are looking for a church home, please consider making it
Amity. Amity was founded 30 years ago by a group of pioneers from
other churches who saw the need for a faith community in this part of
Boise. Many of us have recently moved into the area. We
know what it’s like to search for the right church, and even to
ask the question, why bother with church at all? We welcome you
to enjoy our hospitality and see for yourself if Amity is the place for
you to grow.
Our church is in an exciting time of expansion and change with many new
dreams on the horizon. Please let us know how Amity can assist you in
your spiritual journey.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call the church
office.
Pastor Lisa Payton
Rev.
Lisa Payton graduated from the University of Tennessee in 1986
with a B.S. in Marketing. She attended seminary at
Methodist Theological School in Ohio, graduating in 1998
with a Master of Divinity degree. Her prior career experiences
include financial planning and investments, market research,
advertising and general business management. Lisa grew up in
Clarksville, Tennessee near Fort Campbell Army Base in Kentucky.
Her husband, Jeff, works in the information technology
area. Lisa and Jeff have one son, Jarrod.
Lisa has been a pastor since 1995, serving in a variety of
settings: hospital chaplain, internship at a Presbyterian church
in Ohio, and five years as associate pastor at Cathedral of the Rockies
in downtown Boise.
In 2003 Lisa was appointed to Amity. Her vision is to see Amity
sharing its long history of hospitality to reach out to the surrounding
community. “This church has always been part of a dream for
serving Southwest Boise with the best that Methodism has to
offer. Most folks outside of church do not realize the gifts of
our Methodist approach to church—a community of grace, a place
where questions are encouraged, respect for other denominations and
faiths, and most importantly, an unconditional welcome to
everyone. We have seven acres and a dream sitting as a beacon on
the top of the hill. It is a joy to be part of Amity’s
journey!"
